Greece upset dark horses Russia to qualify from Group A at Euro 2012 alongside the Czech Republic.
The 2004 champions went into the European Championship quarter-finals by eliminating Russia with a 1-0 victory.
The Greeks took the lead just before the halftime whistle when Giorgos Karagounis sent a low shot under Russia goalkeeper Vyacheslav Malafeev with the final touch of the first 45 minutes.
Russia had been the overwhelming favourite going into the match at the National Stadium, but were guilty of squandering chances.
Elsewhere in Group A, Poland slumped out of the tournament after losing 1-0 to the Czech Republic who go through to the quarter-finals as group winners after a game in which the co-hosts also missed a host of missed chances.
The Czechs scored the only goal lead in the 72nd minute when Petr Jiracek collected a pass from Milan Baros and cut inside a defender before slotting past keeper Przemyslaw Tyton for his second goal of the tournament.
Poland poured forward in search of an equaliser but the Czechs held on to advance to the last eight.
