Heather Watson Through to Wimbledon 2nd Round

Heather Watson has become the first British woman to reach the third round of Wimbledon in 10 years.

The 20 year old put in a highly impressive display to beat Jamie Hampton in straight sets.

Watson was always expected to put a stiff challenge against the American, who is ranked just three places above her, but she raced into an early lead before winning the first set 6-1.

She claimed the second set 6-4, setting up a last-32 with with Elena Vesnina or third seed Agnieszka Radwanska.
