Hodgson Praises Welbeck as England beat Sweden 3-2

England have their first win at Euro 2012 - and a first competitive win over Sweden.

It was a far from perfect performance in Kiev -- but Roy Hodgson's side showed heart to come from behind

England did lead at half time thanks to a goal from Andy Carroll making his first start of the tournament.

But by the hour mark, Sweden were in front courtesy of two goals from Olaf Mellberg. Hodgson replaced James Millner with Theo Walcott and was duly rewarded.

The Arsenal forward helped turn the game around. He scored to bring England level, before setting up Danny Welbeck.

The Manchester United player's clever flick was enough to secure the win for England, and impressed the manager

"It was a very clever finish," Hodgson said. "It was goal worthy, in my opinion, of winning the game."

England will see the return of Wayne Ronney for their next match.

A draw against Ukraine next week will be enough to put them through to the quarter-finals.
