Hope Solo Held For 'Hitting Sister And Nephew'

US women's soccer star Hope Solo has been arrested after she allegedly hit her sister and teenage nephew during a party at her suburban home.

Goalkeeper Solo, 32, is being held on two counts of domestic violence, police in Kirkland, Seattle, said.

Solo and her husband, former NFL player Jerramy Stevens, were hosting a party on Friday night when police responded to a 911 call of a female "hitting people" inside the residence.

"There was a big party going on at her house. It was an out-of-control situation," Kirkland Police Lieutenant Mike Murray told The Seattle Times.

Responding officers observed "visible injuries" on Solo's sister and her 17-year-old nephew, and determined that Solo had been the primary aggressor.

The Seattle Reign FC keeper "appeared intoxicated and upset", authorities said.

She is due to appear in court on Monday.

Solo has won two Olympic gold medals as a member of the American women's team.

She has starred for the US team since 2000, and is second all-time in caps for American female goalkeepers.
