A pair of newlyweds ditched tradition after getting married - by having the words 'I Do' tattooed on their fingers.

Paul James and his new wife Andrea Leahy-James briefly left their wedding last weekend to have the permanent vow etched on their fingers in black ink.

Their wedding day ink was tattooed on at a nearby parlour, and includes the date of their nuptials.

The South Wales couple said they wanted 'something quirky and different for our wedding photos'.

Andrea, 28, a senior support assistant, said: 'A tattoo is a bit more permanent and it is something we are always going to have.

'We have got "I do" and the date of the wedding as well so we never forget the date.'

Speaking as she was having the tattoo inked onto her finger, Andrea added: 'Instead of going to Clyne Gardens [a beautiful botanical garden park in Swansea], we went to a tattoo parlour. Everything has gone perfectly.'

Andrea already has tattoos on her left wrist, right ear, and on her back, foot and stomach.

Her new husband Paul, 26, a leak technician, has a letter 'A' tattooed behind his right ear, as well as a tattoo sleeve on his left arm and a tattoo on his neck.
