Islamic State Fighter From Cardiff Killed

The family of a Cardiff man who left the UK to fight with Islamic State has confirmed to Sky News that he has died.

Reyaad Khan is believed to have travelled to Syria in late 2013.

His family told Sky News' West of England Correspondent Siobhan Robbins that the 21-year-old had died, but did not confirm his cause of death.

It is reported he was killed by a US drone strike at the end of August.

He appeared last June in an Islamic State video calling for Westerners to fight in Syria and Iraq.

Nasser Muthana, 20, also from Cardiff and Abdul Raqib Amin, from Aberdeen, also appeared in the 13-minute video.

At the time, Khan's mother pleaded with him during an emotional interview with Sky News saying : "You are my only son. Please come back before it is too late."

She added: "The message to your sheikh is: 'Please send my son back home'".

She claimed Khan had been brainwashed by the militant organisation.

Previous online speculation suggested that Khan had been killed in July.

His family, however, told Sky News at the time that the reports were unconfirmed.
