An Israeli MP threw water over an opposition politician during a heated parliamentary debate.
The disagreement captured by Knesset TV, saw Russian-born Anastassia Michaeli giving Ghaleb Majadele a cooling-off by throwing a glass of water in his face during an education committee meeting before storming out in anger.
Ms Michaeli shouted at Majadele saying: “You are marching against the state.” To which Mr Majadele, replies “shut up”.
“We will say whatever we want, despite what anyone says. This is the parliament here, we were elected for this. This is our right and our privilege. This is not the Yisrael Beitenu faction,” Mr Majadele continued.
Michaeli, a former model, defended her actions in a statement afterwards.
“The times when a man could curse a woman publicly, insult her and act violently are gone.” Unrepentant, she said. “I think water is an excellent way to cool off.”
Following the outburst, Michaeli was suspended for one month.
