Internet song mocks T5 chaos

ITN - Thursday, April 17 03:44 pm

An amateur music video mocking Heathrow's problem-plagued Terminal 5 has become an internet hit.

The Terminal 5 Song includes lines such as: "It's the biggest terminal we've ever seen. It's a bigger disaster, you all know what I mean", and - "The news ain't good, I'm stuck in a queue. After 15 hours, it just won't move."

The video is reportedly already getting more than 1,000 hits a day on YouTube, has been played on the radio and could even be released as a single.

It was created by New Zealand bridegroom Tim Soong, whose luggage was lost by British Airways (BA) in 2006, including the bride Sokha Nhim's wedding dress and the best man's suit.

Mr Soong said: "BA found our luggage the day before the wedding but it wasn't ideal preparation and we ran up a lot of unexpected bills."

After the problems with the new terminal, the London-based electrician and his best man Andy Baynes decided to create a music video capturing the chaos.

A BA spokesman said: "Our customer relations team were in contact with Mr Soong after he and his party travelled to Pisa in November 2006.

"This was some 17 months before the opening of Terminal 5 in March 2008.

"We apologised for the inconvenience Mr Soong experienced and requested supplementary information so that we could issue compensation.

"This was sent to Mr Soong on November 29, 2006 but our customer relations department received no reply."

A British Airports Authority (BAA) spokeswoman said: "BAA sincerely apologises for the disruption experienced by passengers during the opening days of Terminal 5."
