Warmer weather for some

ITN - Saturday, April 26 10:09 am

Forecasters are predicting the warmest day of the year - but only for half the country.

A north-south divide will see temperatures on Saturday reach 21C (70F) in the Midlands and southern England while the rest of the country experiences cloudy weather and showers.

Rachel Vince from MeteoGroup UK said: "If you draw a line from Newcastle-upon-Tyne across to Anglesey then south-east of that should experience generally good weather and sunshine although there is a small risk of afternoon showers.

"The best weather will be in East Anglia, the East Midlands and London, which should have the warmest weather we have seen all year.

"But north-west of that line will be more cloudy and temperatures at best will be 15C or 59F but many places won't even reach that."

Wet weather will spread across the country from the North West on Sunday with temperatures not rising above 16C (61f).

Thundery downpours are a possibility across the country and sharp showers could even bring flash floods to central and eastern England.
