Cricket legend Sir Ian Botham has invited the public to join him on his 12th fundraising walk for Leukaemia Research.
In return for sponsorship, members of the public can take part in the trek through nine UK towns from October 10 to 18, starting in Taunton where Botham began his sporting career.
The town was also where he first met children with leukaemia and was spurred on to start fundraising for the charity.
Sir Ian, who is president of the charity, said: "In 1985, when I first started walking to raise funds for Leukaemia Research, the survival rate for young people with leukaemia was 20 per cent, now the survival rate is 80 per cent.
"Join me on my 2008 walk and together we will help beat this terrible disease. I am determined to see all children survive in my lifetime."
As well as Taunton, he will visit Windsor, Tunbridge Wells, Bury St Edmunds, Stratford-Upon-Avon, Llandudno, Harrogate and Milngavie, finishing in Durham.
Leukaemia Research is aiming to raise more than £100 million in the next five years for research into the disease.
Spaces on the walk are limited. Visit www.bothamwalk.com for information on how to take part.
