Great Britain's Michael Jamieson has won an silver medal in the 200 metres breaststroke at London 2012.
The 23-year-old's time of 2 minutes and 7.43 seconds is the third fastest in history and was nearly a second under his own British record.
Jamieson finished strongly but was not able to overcome Hungarian Daniel Gyurta, who took gold with a new world record time.
Japan's Ryo Tateishi claimed bronze while Englishman Andrew Willis could only finish eighth.
There was also disappointment for two-time defending champion Kosuke Kitajima of Japan who finished fourth, ending his bid to become the first man to win the same swimming event at three consecutive Olympics.
Elsewhere, Jemma Lowe finished sixth in the 200 metres butterfly final.
Speaking afterwards, Jamieson said: "What an amazing night.The crowd was absolutely unbelievable, I can only thank everyone again for all their support.
"It's been a pretty special week, I've done everything I wanted to."
"It's been a good day for Team GB all round, and my team- mate Andrew has had another
fantastic swim again tonight," he added.
