Jimmy Savile Zombie Costume Dropped By Amazon

Online retail giant Amazon has withdrawn a zombie costume of Jimmy Savile from its website following complaints.

The costume included a metallic blue shell suit, pink glasses, medallion, fake cigar, platinum wig, face paint and a bottle of blood.

The outfit, which was priced at £14.99, was described on the site as "perfect for bad taste parties, dead celebrities and Halloween".

Peter Saunders of The National Association for People Abused in Childhood had called for the costume to be withdrawn.

He told Sky News: "This is the height of bad taste. Many people would find this offensive especially victims of this type of crime and particularly Jimmy Savile victims.

"It’s very sick and unfortunate but this type of thing happens periodically."

The item is listed as currently unavailable on the retailer’s website.

Savile is suspected to have raped 34 women and girls and sexually assaulted up to 450 people, including some as young as eight, according to an official report.

Last week, it emerged the police watchdog is investigating claims a former inspector acted on behalf of Savile before he was interviewed by officers over alleged sex crimes.

It came a day after transcripts of a 40-minute interview detailing Savile's suspected sexual abuse were made public for the first time.

He died in 2011, aged 84.
