Johnny Depp And Vanessa Paradis Break Up

Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis have split after 14 years together.

The actor's publicist confirmed the couple had "amicably separated" after months of repeated denials that their relationship was in trouble.

Depp, 49, and Paradis, 39, have two children, Lily-Rose, 13, and Jack, nine. The couple have not been seen at a public event together since 2010.

Depp, who is best known for his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean films, recently criticised speculation that his relationship was over.

He said: "The rumours are not true. They are absolutely not true.

"No matter what I say about this, people believe the opposite. I can't say enough about it not being over."

But his publicist Robin Baum announced on Tuesday that the couple had now split.

"Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis have amicably separated. Please respect their privacy and, more importantly, the privacy of their children," he said.

Depp began dating Paradis in 1998, following his split from British supermodel Kate Moss.

The couple appeared together in Roman Polanski's 1999 film The Ninth Gate.

They set up homes in France, Los Angeles and on a private island in the Caribbean.

They never married, although Depp has been married once before, to Lori Anne Allison between 1983 and 1985.

He also had a high-profile relationship with actress Winona Ryder in the early 1990s.

Depp rose to fame in the 1980s in the television series 21 Jump Street, leading to films including Donnie Brasco and Chocolat.
