Kevin Pietersen In Action After World Twenty20 Omission

Kevin Pietersen has responded to his omission from England's World Twenty20 squad with a decent knock for Surrey against the Welsh Dragons.

The flamboyant batsman made 43 off 44 balls at the Oval in the CB40 clash.

The match is also serving as a memorial game for Tom Maynard, who played for both sides - He died in June, aged 23.

Attention switched to Pietersen as he came to the crease with his side at 11-1, and a series of confident strokes for four boundary hits implied that the latest snub from England's selectors wasn't playing on his mind.

But he would have been disappointed with the manner of his dismissal - He was bowled by Simon Jones with the score at 98 for 4.
