Before the Los Angeles Lakers took on the New York Knicks last night at Madison Square Garden, Kobe Bryant said he really had no idea what all the fuss about about Jeremy Lin is about. After Lin scored a career and game high 38 points and led the Knicks to a 92-85 victory, Kobe Bryant now knows what the fuss about Jeremy Lin is about.
Jeremy Lin Scores 38 Points to Lead Knicks to Fourth Straight Win
For the fourth game in a row, Jeremy Lin played great and the led the Knicks to their fourth straight victory. Over the four games, Lin is averaging 28.5 points and eight assists per game, while shooting 57.5% from the field. Lin even made two of the four threes he shot, after making just one of 10 three over the previous three games.
Lakers Looked Like Tired Team
Kobe Bryant scored 34 points in the game, but made just 11 of the 29 shots he took. Kobe also grabbed 10 rebounds for a double-double. Pau Gasol also had a double-double for the Lakers, scoring 16 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Overall though, the Lakers looked like a tired team after beating the Celtics on Thursday night in OT, and then having to come right back and take on the Knicks last night.
For the Knicks, Iman Shumpert scored 12 points in the game, including nine big points in the fourth quarter. Jared Jeffries scored 11 points and grabbed nine rebounds in between having heating packs taped to his back when he was not in the game. Tyson Chandler scored nine points and grabbed 11 rebounds, and provided a big defensive presence against the Lakers two big men, Gasol and Andrew Bynum.
The story for the Knicks though was once again Jeremy Lin. In addition to driving to the basket, Lin hit a lot of outside shots in the game as the Lakers looked like they wanted to see if Lin could make outside shots.
Lin Made Great 360 Spin Move on Derek Fisher
After making a spectacular dunk vs the Washington Wizards in the Knicks last game, Jeremy Lin made a fantastic 360 spin move around Derek Fisher in last night's game for an easy layup. Fisher clearly grabbed Lin on the play, but the refs did not call the obvious foul.
The fourth win in a row brings the New York Knicks record on the season to 12-15. It's hard to believe that just four games ago the Knicks were 8-15 and headed for oblivion. Now the Knicks are in the playoff hunt, and they have won the last three games basically without Carmelo Anthony and Amare Stoudemire.
Carmelo Anthony, my favorite NBA player and why I root for the Knicks, played only six minutes three games ago vs the New Jersey Nets before he hurt his groin. Melo has not played since. Amare Stoudemire is still out following the death of his brother in a car accident.
Jeremy Lin and the Knicks will try win their fifth game in a row tonight, Saturday, February 10, 2012, against the Minnesota Timberwolves in Minnesota. The game will be the first since Jeremy Lin had emerged that the he and the team will have to play back-to-back games. Can Jeremy Lin and the Knicks do it again?
