Kristen Stewart to play Casey Anthony?

Kristen Stewart, who plays the damaged Bella Swan in “Twilight,” might have the potential to portray another troubled young lady, says The Hollywood Reporter’s Marisa Guthrie.

According to Guthrie, the 21-year-old actress could have what it takes to play Casey Anthony, the 25-year-old woman who has been accused of killing her 2-year-old daughter Caylee.

In an interview with “The Insider,” Guthrie said Stewart’s appearance is reminiscent of Anthony’s.

“She’s got the dark hair, sort of the vacant, deer-in-the-headlights look,” Guthrie said of Stewart, who stars in the upcoming “Twilight” installment, “Breaking Dawn,” which hits theaters in November.

Only time will tell if Hollywood chooses to make a film adaptation out of the Casey Anthony trial, which has been a hot news item all year. The prosecution asserts that Casey Anthony murdered Caylee in June 2008 by duct taping her mouth and placing her body in the woods by her parents’ house before partying it up and shopping. Casey pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder and could go on death row if convicted.

“We have not had a televised murder trial, a really big high profile one since O.J Simpson,” Guthrie said.

Stewart, who is reportedly dating “Twilight” cast mate Robert Pattinson, stars in the two upcoming “Breaking Dawn” movies, which are based off Stephenie Meyer’s popular book series about a girl who falls for a hostile vampire.
