Kylie Tells UK Stars To Enjoy Olympic Concerts

Kylie Minogue has been giving advice to all those musicians appearing at events to mark the London Olympics.

The Australian sang at the closing ceremony of the Sydney Games in 2000 and also at the opening of the Paralympic Games two weeks later.

She told the artists taking part in the Olympics: "Prepare to be amazed."

Minogue said: "I still am thrilled at the memory of performing there because, doing it in your own country there's such a sense of pride that you're hosting the Olympics.

"To be at the centre stage of the event is just extraordinary."

Sir Paul McCartney recently confirmed he has been booked to play at the closing ceremony of London 2012.

A series of concerts representing each part of the United Kingdom will also take place, featuring Snow Patrol (Northern Ireland), Stereophonics (Wales), Paolo Nutini (Scotland) and Duran Duran (England).

Minogue was speaking at the Nordoff Robbins Silver Clef Awards, where she was honoured for her 25 years in show business.

She said she was "thrilled and honoured" to be recognised.

Speaking backstage, she said: "It makes me proud, really proud. I can definitely see with some distance what's gone well, what hasn't gone well, the journey that I've been on, what I've learnt."

The event also recognised Andrew Lloyd Webber, who was given a lifetime achievement award, Jessie J, who was named Best British Act, and Michael Buble, who picked up the international prize.

DJ Fatboy Slim, aka Norman Cook, was awarded the Icon Award, Emeli Sande was given the Innovation Award and Manic Street Preachers were named Ambassadors of Rock.

The event at the London Hilton on Park Lane also saw McFly win the best live act award, voted for by the public.
