Labour Out In Front In Latest Opinion Poll

Labour has moved into an 11-point lead over the Conservatives, according to the latest opinion poll.

The survey by ComRes for the Independent put Ed Miliband's Opposition up six points on 44% and David Cameron's Tories down two at 33%.

That is the biggest such advantage since the 2010 General Election and would produce a Labour majority of 116, the polling firm calculated.

The Liberal Democrats dropped three points to 12%.

According to the survey, two thirds (67%) of voters - including 40% of Tory backers - believe the Prime Minister and Chancellor George Osborne are "out of touch with ordinary people".

It found 46% agreed the Tory/Lib Dem coalition Government was "broadly competent" despite making some mistakes, with 48% disagreeing.

ComRes interviewed 1,003 adults by telephone between October 26-29.
