This is the dramatic moment a £1million supercar burst into flames in the middle of a busy London street.

The high-end Lamborghini Miura caught fire in Acton, West London, with the driver having to watch helplessly as his beloved motor burned to the ground.

Emergency crews took 15 minutes to put out the spectacular blaze on Friday afternoon, which brought traffic in the capital to a standstill.

By the time fire crews arrived and put the fire out, the vintage 1971 Miura appeared to be a charred wreck.

The classic supercar is regarded as the first ever supercar after it went on sale in 1966.

But despite the serious damage caused to this model, it is unlikely to be resigned to the scrapheap.

James Cottingham, from classic sports car specialist DK Engineering, said: "The Lamborghini Miura SV is never beyond repair.

"It will need a full restoration but the car will be back on the road.

"It is a bitter reminder that you should always carry a fire extinguisher when you have a classic car."

With a V12 engine developing around 380bhp, the SV could accelerate from 0-60mph in 6.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 171mph.

When it was launched it was the world’s fastest road car, but they had an awful reputation for catching fire.

It is unknown what precisely caused this particular Lamborghini to burst into flames last week.

The video of the Lamborghini, one of just 764 Miuras built, was uploaded to YouTube by a group who film cars being driven out of their normal environment.
