Revealed: The world’s biggest McDonald’s in Olympic Park
Do you want some fries with that medal?
Not only has 2012 brought us the Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics, it has also brought us the world’s biggest McDonald’s.
The chain, which is a key sponsor of the games, will officially open the super-sized outlet in July during the Olympic and Paralympic games.
At 30,000 square-feet, the fast-food eatery has been constructed so close to the Olympic stadium it would take under 20 seconds for the world’s fastest man Usain Bolt to sprint from the starting line to the restaurant built just 200 metres from the running track.

For six weeks only, more than 50,000 Big Mac burgers and 180,000 portions of fries will be served up from the cathedral-like outlet in Olympic Park, in Stratford, east London.
The temporary branch stretches over two floors and has been designed to hold 1,500 customers at a time.
With 2,000 staff employed, the colossal entity constructed from recyclable materials takes the crown from the current largest McDonald’s restaurant in Orlando, Florida.
The construction has already been slammed by British doctors at the Academy of Royal Medical Colleges, who warn fast-food sponsorship sends the wrong message amid the UK’s ballooning obesity crisis.
