A 37-year-old man has been charged with the murders of Birmingham couple Avtar and Carole Kolar.
West Midlands Police said Rimvydas Liorancas will appear in magistrates' court on Thursday morning charged with two counts of murder.
A major investigation was launched when the husband and wife's bodies were found at their Handsworth Wood home by their policeman son last week.
Mr Kolar, 62, and his 58-year-old wife had been battered to death.
Post-mortem examinations revealed the couple, who had been married for 40 years, died from blunt force trauma to the head, and both had been struck a number of times.
A police spokesman said forensic investigators remained at the Kolar property on Monday, while detectives and local neighbourhood officers continue to conduct local inquiries.
Two other men have been questioned over the double murder and released.
A 41-year-old man questioned at the weekend was released without charge, while a 24-year-old man is on police bail in connection with the investigation.
The latest suspect was arrested on Monday.
