Mind if I join you? Horse leaps over fence to join cycle race

This is the moment a horse leapt over a fence- to join a passing cycling race.

The animal darted into the road when cyclists in the Marie Curie Cancer Care Etape Caledonia event raced past its field in Fortingall, Perthshire, Scotland.

Riders braked and swerved out of the way and disaster was only averted when marshals guided the horse off the road.

Competitor Colin McCreath, from Perth, said the animal nearly caused a pile-up at the 55-mile point in the race on Saturday.

'Ahead of us we could see two horses within a field and as we passed, one leapt the fence into the road in front of us,' he said.

'We were in a big bunch at the time and slowed down but the horse kept moving with us and we only served to herd it about a quarter of a mile down the road towards Weem.

'Thankfully as we approached the junction, the marshals were able to corral the horse the safety.'
