Yahoo News Modern Family Star's Ex Ordered To Stay Away
Sarah Hyland's ex-boyfriend has been ordered to stay away from the actress and not contact her for three years.
The Modern Family star went to court to request protection from Matt Prokop, who is said to have been physically and verbally abusive towards her.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Andrea Thompson granted the permanent restraining order, which was not contested by Prokop.
He is not allowed within 100 yards of Hyland, her home or her Maltipoo pet dog called Barkley Bixby.
Hyland, 23, accused Prokop of choking her and threatening her during their relationship, which ended in August.
She did not report the incidents to police and Prokop, 24, has not been criminally charged.
The couple starred together in the TV movie Geek Charming and Prokop appeared in one episode of Modern Family.
He also appeared in High School Musical 3.
Julie Bowen, who plays the Hyland's on-screen mother in the hit comedy series, is said to have helped Hyland, who plays Haley Dunphy, end the relationship.
It is thought Prokop has spent some time in a rehabilitation facility since the break-up.
