Mother Charged With Murdering Daughter

A mother has been charged with the murder of her four-year-old daughter in their Manchester home.

Chantelle Blake, 31, attended Royal Manchester Infirmary and "expressed concerns" about Kiaya on Thursday.

Staff contacted police, who went to a house in Garthorne Close in the Moss Side area, about two miles from the hospital and discovered the girl's body.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said a post-mortem examination has been carried out and the cause of death at this time is "unascertained".

Further testing is being done while police continue to try to trace relatives of the mother and daughter, he said.

Police said they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the girl's death.

Blake has appeared before Manchester City Magistrates' Court and was remanded in custody.
