NFL-National Football League roundup

Nov 21 (The Sports Xchange) - The Buffalo Bills landed in Detroit on Friday afternoon and were scheduled for a light practice at Ford Field. The team managed to round up all 53 players and the coaches from snowbound Buffalo and get them to the airport for the trip to Detroit, where the Bills will play the New York Jets on Monday. With Ralph Wilson Stadium rendered unplayable by record snowfall in the greater Buffalo area this week, the NFL moved the game to Detroit's Ford Field. Because the Bills were unable to practice for the past two days during a driving ban in Buffalo, kickoff will be Monday at 7 p.m. ET. Tickets to the game will be free. Bills and Lions season-ticket holders were offered free tickets Friday. Tickets will be available at large on Saturday. The Lions also announced they will conduct a raffle during the game to benefit the American Red Cross of Western and Central New York Disaster Relief Fund. - - - Suspended Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson insists he is remorseful and has vowed to never use a switch as discipline on any of his children again. In an interview with USA Today, Peterson expressed regret for injuring his 4-year-old son. "I won't ever use a switch again," Peterson said. "There's different situations where a child needs to be disciplined as far as timeout, taking their toys away, making them take a nap. There's so many different ways to discipline your kids." Peterson, who pleaded no contest to one count of misdemeanor reckless assault and received two years of probation, also said he is undergoing counseling. The NFL suspended Peterson without pay for at least the remainder of the season for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy. Peterson's appeal will be heard Dec. 2 by former NFL executive Harold Henderson, according to a report Friday by Jay Glazer of FOX Sports. - - - New England Patriots running back Jonas Gray, who had a breakout game last Sunday, was sent home Friday after he reportedly overslept and arrived late to the team facility. Gray's phone died so his alarm did not go off, a source told Mark Garafolo of FOX Sports. When Gray arrived at Gillette Stadium, coach Bill Belichick told him to leave. Gray texted teammates to apologize, Garafolo reported, and planned to return later in the day to apologize to Belichick. Gray, 24, ran for 201 yards and four touchdowns in a 42-20 win over the Indianapolis Colts. - - - Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said Friday that the team wants running back Marshawn Lynch for "as long as he can play." Carroll reiterated his Thursday comments to USA Today that the Seahawks have not said Lynch will not return for the final year of his contract in 2015. "He's under contract for next year," Carroll said. "We'd be thrilled to have him playing for us next year. We'll do everything we can to get that done." - - - Wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald missed practice for a third straight day Friday and will be a game-time decision when the Arizona Cardinals face the Seahawks in a big NFC West matchup in Seattle on Sunday. Fitzgerald suffered a sprained left knee in Arizona's 14-6 victory over the Detroit Lions last Sunday, and his streak of 110 consecutive starts appears in jeopardy. - - - Cleveland Browns tight end Jordan Cameron returned to practice Friday for the first time since suffering a concussion on Oct. 26, but he was ruled out for Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons. - - - Denver Broncos wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders practiced Friday and is probable for the Broncos' game vs. the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. Tight end Julius Thomas is questionable, and running backs Montee Ball and Ronnie Hillman remain out. - - - The Kansas City Chiefs signed wide receiver Jason Avant on Friday after he was released by the Carolina Panthers days earlier. The 31-year-old veteran played in 11 games for the Panthers this season and had 21 receptions for 201 yards. - - - Indianapolis Colts tight end Dwayne Allen has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Allen suffered an ankle injury against the New England Patriots last Sunday. - - - The Atlanta Falcons activated wide receiver Drew Davis from the physically unable to perform list and waived wide receiver Freddie Martino on Friday. The 6-foot-1, 204-pound Davis underwent foot surgery in July. (Editing by Gene Cherry)
