Nikon Coolpix L610 compact camera with 14x zoom turns beginners into pros

Nikon has added to its Coolpix range with the L610, which has enough features to keep the keenest of camera fans enthused, with a few helping hands for photography novices.

The compact camera comes with a 16-megapixel backlit CMOS image sensor, which will help ensure your snaps maintain their natural colours even when lightening is bad or non-existent. Need a steady hand and Nikon's bundled in its Lens-Shift Vibration Reduction technology to make sure your snaps stay in focus.

For the more experimental photographers among you, the Nikon Coolpix L610 features a NIKKOR 14x optical zoom along with 19 different scene modes meaning you can get a little more creative with your photos. Panorama mode for exmple, lets the user capture multiple shots in a quick burst before merging them together for a 180° or even 360° photographs.

However, if you're still finding your feet then not only is there an Easy Auto Mode with auto-focus that will adjust your settings automatically depending on your surroundings, but the Onscreen Quick Retouch Menu enables you to touch up any blemishes or colour distortions on your snaps.

Full HD (1080p) video recording can be captured with a dedicated movie-record button, with the 14x optical zoom and auto-focus still available to use.

The Nikon Coolpix L610 compact camera is available in red, black and silver from 23 August for £199.
