OUYA gets OnLive backing meaning hundreds of top tier games from launch

Having already raised in excess of $5.5 million, OUYA has received another boost with OnLive partnering with the start-up company that will see hundreds of its top tier titles available when the games console is launched.

OnLive will provide a range of games to choose from via their cloud service, with gamers able to play a 30 minute demo for nearly all those available, before deciding whether to purchase the full game. If the game is bought, the gamer can continue from the exact point they left off at.

The OUYA console will run Android 4.0 Ice Cream sandwich and will stream games from the cloud to an HD TV. The fact that the platform is open-sourced makes it easier for developers to create titles for the console.

However, with OnLive's investment, a lack of titles is unlikely to be of concern to OUYA or any potential gamers when the service is eventually rolled out, rumoured to be March 2013.
