Paralympic Trio Charged With Sex Assaults

Three members of the Jordanian Paralympic team are appearing in court charged with sexual assault while training for London 2012 in the UK.

Two power-lifters and a trainer face charges of sexual assault - including against two children - and voyeurism.

The charges relate to alleged incidents at the Antrim Forum sports centre in Co Antrim, Northern Ireland, where several foreign teams have been training ahead of the Games.

Powerlifter Omar Sami Qarada, 31, is charged with three counts of sexual assault, two of them against children, and one count of voyeurism.

His teammate Mutaz Zakaria Aljuneidi, 45, is charged with sexually assaulting a woman.

Powerlifting trainer Faisal Mustafa Hammash, 35, is charged with causing the sexual assault of two children.

Qarada was a silver medal winner in the 2008 Beijing Games, while Aljuneidi picked up a bronze.

The Jordanian team is due to leave Northern Ireland on Wednesday ahead of the start of the Games in London on August 29.

The 19-strong delegation of athletes and coaches had arrived in Antrim on August 8.
