    Paul McCartney 'Shown Phone-Hacking Evidence'

Sir Paul McCartney has been shown evidence by police that his phone was hacked, according to reports.

The Beatles star, who married third wife Nancy Shevell in October , told The Times he knew his phone had been hacked because stories would emerge about personal details he had not told anyone.

In an interview with the newspaper, he said there was a possibility many people may have hacked his phone during the time of his divorce second wife Heather Mills.

He claims it had had a lasting effect: "I tend not to say much on the phone now. If I leave a message, it's benign.

"You edit yourself according to the new circumstances of the new world. I think it would be quite good to get some sort of laws."

The star is the latest in a series of high-profile victims of hacking.

The Leveson Inquiry into press standards has been hearing evidence from a range of people, including the family of murdered schoolgirl Milly Dowler, actress Sienna Miller, and actor Hugh Grant.

This week singer Charlotte Church described the effect the press had had on her life , while lawyer Mark Lewis said News International had tried to destroy his life, commissioning surveillance on him and his family.

A spokesman for Sir Paul McCartney has said they would not be commenting on the interview in The Times.

On Wednesday university lecturer Bethany Usher, who worked at axed Sunday tabloid the News of the World, became the 17th arrest under Scotland Yard's Operation Weeting.

She has been bailed until late March, sources said.

This phone hacking is a disgrace and the people who are guilty should be named and shamed.
Should these people get large sums of money compensation ? most of them already have enough, give the money to Charity .

Erm, hang on a minute. "...he knew his phone had been hacked because stories would emerge about personal details he had not told anyone." So how did these details end up on his phone if he "had not told anyone"? Did he leave messages for himself on his phone to remind him about all those personal details he might forget about himself? I know he's getting on a bit, but...

Doesn't matter how much money you have or how famous you are, you're still entitled to privacy. any person or organisation who breaches this is a criminal and should be prosecuted.

Is there anyone who hasn't had their phone hacked? Yes, ME. They would have found nothing of interest at all just invites for ladies lunches, shopping trips and the usual gossip us gels thrive on.

It is easy to stop phone hacking just change your PIN number from 0000 and it makes it harder for the hackers,

Him and Cilla Black pretend to be forever Liverpudlians, but both have moved on and forgotten their roots except if there is a photo opportunity...make you sick, both of them. Why would anyone wanna listen to his drivel on the phone...his records are bad enough.
