Phone Operator 3's Data Network Issues Remain

Mobile phone operator 3 is still working to repair its data network services after a technical glitch cut internet access for subscribers across the country.

The company tweeted an apology and posted a message on its website on Tuesday evening confirming ongoing problems - hours after it said service was restored.

It said: "Some customers may be experiencing problems accessing the Internet and some of our account services while we complete work relating to earlier network problems.

"Our engineers are working to restore services in full as soon as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience."

Service restoration started in London around 11am on Tuesday, with a "phased response" planned as various regions were brought back online.

By mid-afternoon a spokeswoman said full service was back to normal.

She told Sky News: "We’re happy to say internet access is back up and running. We are sorry for any interruption."

But it appears further problems occurred early evening after the service had been brought back online.

Some users had complained of data network service problems stretching back to Monday night.

The company had assured customers that text and voice facilities were not affected.

The operator has around nine million customers in the UK but had not been able to say how may people had been affected by the data problem.
