LONDON, ENGLAND - SEPTEMBER 28: A worker's gloved hand holds a protective glass panel in front of a 19th century anatomical plaster cast at the Museum of London on September 28, 2012 in London, England. The figure was cast in 1801 from the corpse of convicted murderer James Legg, as part of an experiment to settle an artistic debate attempting to establish whether or not depictions of the Crucifixion were anatomically correct. Three Royal Academicians enlisted the help of eminent surgeon, Joseph Constantine Carpue, who nailed the still warm body of James Legg on to a cross immediately after execution. A cast was then made of the cadaver when it cooled. The 19th Century figure has now been installed at the Museum of London to form part of the 'Doctors, Dissection And Resurrection Men' exhibition which will run from October 19, 2012 to April 14, 2013.
