BP Portrait Awards: Naked relatives scoop top art prizes

A portrait of a nude woman known affectionately as ‘Auntie’ to one artist has beaten thousands of paintings to win a £25k art prize. From a tattooed man to a naked grandpa, see some more images from the prestigious BP Portrait Awards which are being displayed in an exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery.

BP Travel Award 2012: Carl Randall for Mr Kitazawas Noodle Bar

This year Carl Randall won for his proposal to travel to Japan and journey along the Nakasendo Highway, following in the footsteps of the Japanese printmaker Ando Hiroshige (1797 – 1858). Hiroshige produced a series of woodblock prints on his travels which serve as an artistic document of life in Japan in the 19th Century.
