      Most probably this is the a photo of a section of the wall that separated a church and its graveyard, and doesn't feature the victims of attempts to cross the wall.

        nope they just built the wall where they wanted...went right thru houses and streets like a train...

        i was going to say exactly the same thing, it literally cut through the city, i was born in Hanover and lived in Berlin in 1989, 6 months before the wall came down my father left the army and we left Germany for good

        anthony b get your facts right. The wall was not built where THEY wanted it was built according to the districts (Bezirke) that was in the Russian sector.
