King Willem-Alexander becomes Europe's youngest monarch as Queen Beatrix abdicates Dutch throne

Queen Beatrix of Holland today handed over power to her eldest son Willem-Alexander. In a lavish ceremony in Amsterdam, Beatrix signed abdication papers, making her Willem-Alexander the first Dutch king in more than 100 years. The much-loved Queen Beatrix ended her 33-year reign in front of thousands of orange-clad patriotic Dutch well-wishers today.
