I think Dream is being optimistic. But I agree that the monarchy should be kept.

Tourism from overseas brings in more than enough to cover whatever cost our history via Monarchy costs to keep going.
I am a pensiomer and aged 81 years old. I am proud to be British because our history etc. If the Monarchy costs me 10 pounds to see the pomp and ceremony on t. v or wherever I get good value.

It only costs the average tax payer about 60p a year to fund the Queen, and not much more for the whole family. The amount of tourism that we get as a consequence of the Royal family is unbelievable and so many people wouldn't have jobs without them.
Old and homeless people are dying because there are not enough billions of pounds (not 60ps) to support those (generally young, baring in mind I'm 17) idiots who take up doctors, resources and generally people's time from their stupid mistakes - often related to drugs, cars, alcohol etc...
We should point the finger at those air and time-wasters for "killing pensioners and homeless people" - not the Royal Family.

What, other than: the world's most popular aero engines (Rolls-Royce), the world's most popular passenger aircraft (Airbus), the world's number one financial services centre (City of London); we build ships, nuclear submarines, cars, and produce the most successful formula 1 vehicles in the world. And of course soldier for soldier, we have the finest Armed Forces in the world who, a little while ago, liberated Europe from tyranny. And of course Royal Weddings, as you rightly say.
