Sony World Photography Awards: The stunning shortlist

Over 122,000 entries from 170 countries have been submitted for consideration at the 2013 Sony World Photography Awards. Capturing the vast expanse of the Milky Way, an intimate moment between President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle and a portrait of a gypsy bride on her wedding day, the photographs boast a wide selection of subjects.
The staggering number submitted were whittled down to a shortlist which will be exhibited at Somerset House, London from April 26 to May 12. The shortlist includes 14 British photographers across 15 categories. Take a look at the highlights.
