Tokyo Sky Tree, a new landmark tower which is still under construction in Tokyo, dwarfs other buildings. The new broadcast tower reached the height of 1,971 feet (601 meters) Tuesday and became the world's tallest freestanding tower, outgrowing the 1,968 feet (600m) Canton Tower in China's southwestern city of Guanzhou, operator Tobu Tower Sky Tree Co. said.
