A 13-year-old boy had to be rescued by firefighters after falling down a well in Changchun, capital of north-east China's Jilin Province. Passers-by called police after hearing Xiao Ming's screams for help from the 10m-deep well, which had an opening just 40cm wide. A fireman was lowered down into the well, and he eventually managed to haul the boy up.
