Up to 12 people including the driver were taken to Darlington Memorial Hospital but none were thought to be seriously injured.

Torres, a 52 year-old teacher, founded the Villa Lorena animal shelter which protects about 600 animals seized from drug traffickers, circuses, animal traffickers or were abandoned by their owners.

They were rescued and taken to the Sanctuary Wildlife Care centre where feeding is provided every three hours.
