An armed man who took a hostage inside a downtown Pittsburgh office building has surrendered to police.
Police Chief Nate Harper says the suspect gave himself up after posting Facebook updates in the early hours of the standoff saying he had "lost everything".
Klein Michael Thaxton, 22, entered the building sometime after 8am local time on Friday and went up to a 16th floor office suite inside the Three Gateway Centre.
He took at least one person hostage inside a business after entering the suite and asking about a particular person.
Mr Thaxton, who police said had a military background, posted several Facebook updates while negotiating with police.
He said on the social network that he was "tired of life" and had lost everything.
Mr Thaxton also claimed to be armed with a gun and a bomb.
He surrendered to police after a six-hour seige.
Police said he did not suffer any injuries during the stand-off, and that his hostage was unharmed.
