Bahamas drama: Prince Harry’s boat breaks down

It wasn’t all plain sailing for Prince Harry who was visiting the Bahamas as part of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

The speedboat the prince and his royal entourage were travelling in broke down due after a mechanical failure.

He had planned to join the crew of a Royal Bahamian Defence Force patrol boat on a naval exercise before the fault hit the vessel during a 50-mile crossing between islands.

To the delight of local media, the Prince was then forced from the Royal Bahamas Defence Force into a boat carrying journalists who escorted him to Harbour Island where he was greeted by excited crowds of people.

The eligible Prince’s week-long whistle stop tour of Belize and the Bahamas began on 2 March. He is due to visit Jamaica today in honour of his grandmother Queen Elizabeth II and the 60 years since her accession to the throne.
