'Prince Philip Responding Well To Treatment'

The Duke of Edinburgh is responding well to treatment, Buckingham Palace has said.

But doctors have not said when the prince will be allowed to leave hospital in Aberdeen.

He was taken to the city's Royal Infirmary yesterday at the start of a holiday at Balmoral with the Queen.

He is being treated for a recurrence of the bladder infection he suffered in June.

Sky's Scotland Correspondent said; "Information has been sparse indeed since the Duke of Edinburgh was brought here at 3.30pm yesterday afternoon."

Matthews added that when the prince was in hospital in June for the same infection he spent five days there.

It is believed Prince Philip is being treated with antibiotics intravenously.

Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall, as well as the Count and Countess of Wessex are believed to be at Balmoral. Matthews said it would therefore not be surprising if they turned up to hospital to visit Prince Philip.
