Living 240 miles away from the sea didn't deter this daredevil surfer who found an unusual way to catch some waves.
Pictured balancing precariously on his surfboard, adventurous Peter Bartl and his photographer friend Philip Platzer snapped these incredible shots while surfing on a river.
Mr Platzer captured amazing images of his pal in action in a secret location in landlocked Austria.
The sport is dangerous and takes immense skill to master as the currents are fast and harmful obstacles lie just below the surface, concealed by the froth of the waves.
Mr Platzer, from Graz in Austria, said: "I have always been active in sports such as surfing, rockclimbing or snowboarding, but something was missing.
"I wanted to capture the dynamic and emotion of a single moment.
"As an autodidact and addicted to photography since 2008, I always try to push my own limits as high as possible to get unique views and stunning shots.
"You’ve got to push yourself harder. You’ve got to start looking for pictures nobody else could take. You’ve got to take the tools you have and probe deeper."
