Robert Downey Jr's Son In LA Drug Arrest

Robert Downey Jr's 20-year-old son has been arrested on suspicion of possessing a drug, thought to be cocaine.

Los Angeles authorities said Indio Falconer Downey was taken into custody on Sunday afternoon after a car he was in was pulled over in West Hollywood.

Sheriff's Sergeant Dave Valentine said Downey was booked on suspicion of a possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Two other people were in the car but only Downey was arrested.

Downey was released shortly after 9pm on $10,250 (£6,000) bail.

A court date has been set for August 29.

"Unfortunately, there's a genetic component to addiction and Indio has likely inherited it," Robert Downey, Jr, who had a series of high-profile drug-related arrests in the late 1990s, said in a statement.

"We're grateful to the Sheriff's Department for their intervention, and believe Indio can be another recovery success story instead of a cautionary tale."

Downey appeared in the 2005 movie Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, which also starred his father.

Robert Downey Jr's publicist has not issued a statement.

Indio is the Hollywood star's son from his first marriage to actress Deborah Falconer which ended in 2004.

His second wife, producer Susan Levin, gave birth to another son, called Exton, in 2012.
