Samurai Sword Attack: Attempted Murder Charge

A man has been charged with attempted murder after a woman was attacked with a samurai sword in a London street.

Ahla Timofei, 25, of Frampton Street, Marylebone, London, is accused of two counts of attempted murder.

He will appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.

Police were called to Holloway Road early on Monday to find the 22-year-old woman bleeding heavily on ground.

She suffered a number of injuries to her legs, arms and face and is described as being in a serious, but not life-threatening condition in hospital.

Her parents have travelled from Italy to be with her.

Resident Steven Oltay, 19, said he heard the attack take place.

"I was woken up by a woman screaming. Horrific screams, like an animal," he said.

"I thought it was someone being murdered and almost ran out but decided against it."
