Sex Inquiry 'Not Over' As Ex-IMF Chief Freed

Former IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn has been freed by French police after two days of questioning about an alleged prostitution ring - but he faces another grilling.

The 62-year-old, once considered a frontrunner to be the next president of France, is set to be quizzed again next month.

He faces charges of "abetting aggravated pimping by an organised gang" and "misuse of company funds" in an investigation that has already implicated police and businessmen.

During his interrogation, Mr Strauss-Kahn told investigators he did not suspect women he met at orgies were prostitutes, as they were introduced to him by senior police officers, a source close to the probe said.

Police want to establish if Mr Strauss-Kahn, whose IMF job and prospects of becoming French president ended last year after his arrest for now-abandoned sex charges against a New York hotel maid, knew that women who entertained him at parties in France and Washington were prostitutes.

They also want to know whether he knew the escorts were paid with funds allegedly fraudulently obtained from a public works company by his hosts.

Mr Strauss-Kahn, who lived in the US capital while head of the IMF, has acknowledged having an uninhibited sex life, but rejects any role in pimping or corruption and has indicated he will deny any criminal wrongdoing.

A source said he would be summoned to appear before investigating magistrates on March 28.

That could open the door to a formal investigation being opened against him.

Under French law, aggravated organised pimping carries a prison term of up to 20 years and profiting from embezzlement five years and a fine.

Mr Strauss-Kahn was arrested in New York last May following allegations that he had subjected chambermaid Nafissatou Diallo to a brutal sexual assault in his hotel suite.

But prosecutors dropped the case against him in August because of doubts about the credibility of Ms Diallo, who is pursuing her claims in a lawsuit.

Maybe they're "setting him up again". Remember all those clods on yahoo supporting & defending this psychopathic sex-fiend last year? Nothing will happen to him of course, since he's a member of the ethno-genetic group that owns & controls the banks, governments & mass media of the world.
