Graeme Smith is not expected to miss South Africa's second test against England after announcing the birth of his daughter.
The captain is confident he will return in time for the second test at Headingley after flying home for the birth of his daughter.
However, he will miss South Africa's two-day match against Worcestershire.
Smith tweeted his delight of having a baby girl: "Our daughter, Cadence Christine Smith was born this morning, 3,35kg mother and daughter doing well. thx for all kind wishes that was amazing."
The captain became only the seventh batsman in cricket history to score a century in his 100th test as his side beat England by an innings and 12 runs at The Oval.
