    Snedeker Storms To Open Lead

Brandt Snedeker holds a one shot lead over Adam Scott at the halfway point of the Open Championship at Royal Lytham & St. Annes.

Snedeker shot a flawless round of 64 to move to ten under par at Day Two of the Open.

Australia's Adam Scott, who held a one shot lead going into the second round, recorded a 67 to stay narrowly behind Snedeker in second place.

Tiger Woods moved up to third with a 6 under par 67. The 14 time champion produced a crowd pleasing finish by chipping in from the bunker for a birdie at the 18th.

Snedeker now equals Sir Nick Faldo's record for the lowest 36 hole score in Open history, a halfway total of 130 set at Muirfield in 1992.

Speaking after his round, the American said: "I'm sure everybody..is in about as much shock as I am right now, My mantra all week has been to get the ball on the greens as fast as possible.

"Once I'm on there, I have a pretty good hand on the speed of the greens. I'm just going to try and keep doing that over the weekend."

It was a tough day for the Brits as Rory McIlroy, Lee Westwood and Ian Poulter narrowly made it through to the third round.

While Justin Rose and Paul Casey failed to make the cut with scores of 4 and 11- over par.

Phil Mickelson, last year's runner up, went home after falling far behind the leaders with a total score of 151.
