Sri Lanka Legend To Retire

Sri Lanka batsman Sanath Jayasuriya will retire from international cricket during his side's tour of England.

The opener had been recalled to the side for the upcoming limited overs internationals.

But within hours the 41 year old hastily organised a media conference to announce that he'll quit after the first One Day International.

"I called here to inform (you of) my retirement from all forms of (international) cricket after 20 years of play," he told reporters in Colombo.

Jayasuriya is seen as a cricketing legend in Sri Lanka - he's been part of the international set-up since 1989.

He's played 110 Test matches, 444 ODIs and 30 T20 matches for his country and was part of the side that won the Cricket World Cup in 1996.

Sri Lanka's limited overs series starts on June 25th.
