England Take Charge Of 2nd Test Against Sri Lanka

England are taking charge of the Second Test against Sri Lanka at Lord's.

By Stumps on Day four they were 149 for two, a lead of 156. Earlier in the day Sri Lanka made 479 in reply to England's first innings 486, that gave England an unlikely first innings lead of 7 runs.

Sri Lanka had started day four on 372 for 3 and had looked likely to take a significant lead themselves but England's bowlers found their line and length.

Andrew Strauss' attack improved significantly from days 2 and 3 with Steve Finn finishing on four for 108 and Graeme Swann bowling a spell that saw him take three for eight in just 16 balls.

England's second innings started badly when Strauss went in the first over. He was trapped lbw by Chanaka Welegadara for 0.

Despite that early blow England recovered well with Jonathan Trott and Alastair Cook both getting half centuries.

Trott was out after tea, he was bowled by Herath for 58 off 75 balls.

That left Cook and Pietersen at the crease. England still have 98 overs left today to force a win.

A few weeks ago most would have regarded the draw as favourite but following their final day victory in the First Test at Cardiff England may hope to force an unlikely win if they can score runs quickly in the first half of the day.
